Bullet For My Valentine – Bullet For My Valentine (Spinefarm Records) – 5th November 2021

Off the back of their HUGE Download Festival Pilot headline slot in the summer, Welsh metal titans Bullet For My Valentine are back with their new self titled album.

Opener Parasite starts with snippets of old songs, including Waking The Demon and Hand of Blood amongst others, before frontman Matt Tuck screams “you fucking parasite”. When the guitars and screaming vocal kick in, you can tell why Bullet For My Valentine have hinted this will be their heaviest album yet.

The first single Knives carries on this theme. My Reverie has some brilliant lyrical work, with Matt musing “cut me into pieces, then try and bring me back to life”.

Stand outs on the album come in No Happy Ever After with it’s drum fill introduction which leads into a huge guitar part (sure to start many a mosh pit) and newly released single Shatter which, with it’s massive hooky intro/chorus of “it’s gonna break me but that doesn’t matter/another crack watch me shatter”, is sure to be a live favourite.

Can’t Escape The Waves is the lightest the album goes, with brilliant melodic vocals and a huge chorus.

Paralysed wouldn’t be out of place on one of the bands earlier albums, with it’s massive guitars, which will please a lot of die hard fans.

Overall it is hard to find fault with Bullet For My Valentine, this is indeed their heaviest album to date, and it is going to be an absolute monster when the tracks are unleashed on their upcoming tour.
